Good Night Fred, I can't believe our Friend and Bro, Bro Fred Skelding R.O.H. could have had a better send off. With his own lodge being the pole bearers he entered the Church, followed by a legion of brothers from around the Island, representatives of every lodge in the Province. Bro David Brown R.O.H. Grand Min for 2008 and PPGP 1975 a close friend of Fred's for nearly 40 years gave the eulogy. A short resume of Fred's life from his youth through to his being called up to the R.A.F. to becoming a tankers drive. His moving to the Isle of Man working at Quiggin Timber Yard, and then to work for himself. Fred was a vastly popular man and Brother. His work for the Order carried through to the very end. PGL Sec as well as Chapter and Lodge Sec, Fred took on secretary for Bro David Browns R.O.H. forthcoming Investiture to Grand Minstrel for 2008. Bro David did what only a dear old friend could do, speaking warmly of a deep friendship, not only of Brother to Brother, but their families and those who Fred touched. Everyone was touched listening to the antidotes which so many of us were involved. It was heart rendering to see and hear over 40 Brothers in the Broken Link singing the Toast to Absent Brethren, wearing their Ivy Leaf and his own Lodges Collars, this will linger with some of us for a very long time. Fred we know you will never be forgotten, the stories and jokes will go on, so please Fred keeps us all a place in that other link you have joined, I know you are still with us and all those you loved. Good Night ( R.I.P. )
